Megan Yip, from Portland, Oregon, started playing the cello at the age of six and made her solo orchestral debut in 2011 with the Oregon Sinfonietta. She has continued to perform around the world in venues such as the Alice Tully Hall, the Jordan Hall, the David Geffen Hall, the Helsinki Music Center, and the Berwaldhallen Concert Hall. Megan is a guest artist with the Versoi Ensemble and has also been featured in NPR's radio show “From the Top” with Christopher O'Riley. She is an avid chamber musician and has been coached by members of the Juilliard, Ying, Shanghai, Brentano, Pacifica, and Escher Quartets. She has recently attended summer festivals such as Festival Pablo Casals and the Aspen Music Festival, and her masterclass teachers include Frans Helmerson, Ralph Kirshbaum, Michel Strauss, Alisa Weilerstein, and Amit Peled. Megan has received her Bachelor of Music from The Juilliard School while studying with Richard Aaron, and is currently pursuing her Master of Music at Yale University as a student of Paul Watkins.
