Mikhail Makhnach was born in 2001. Since 2007 he has been a student at the Gnessin Moscow Special School of Music (College), under the leadership of the professor Vladimir Tonkha. Mikhail is a regular participant of music festivals in the central halls of Moscow and abroad. In recent years, he has performed at the concert cycles Cello Cathedral and Cello Zodiak of the Russian Gnessin Academy of Music. Mikhail had received the 3rd prize in the Antonio Janigro International Cello Competition in 2014, Porec, Croatia. In 2015 he had gained a Semifinalist certification in the 9th Tchaikovsky International Youth Competition, Novosibirsk, Russia. Most recently, in 2016, Mikhail claimed the 2nd prize in the Knushevitsky’s International Cello Competition, Saratov, Russia; as well as the 3rd prize in the Kozolupov’s Cello Competition, Moscow, where he became the youngest performer. In 2017, Mikhail has received a Silver medal in Celloklaipeda competition, Litva, and became a participant of the Musica Mundi Summer School in Belgium. In 2018 Mikhail became a laureate of the Knushevitsky’s International Cello Competition, in Saratov, Russia, where he was the youngest performer in the Senior group, receiving the 3rd prize.
