Timur Kolodyazhny was born in 1992, in Russia. He studied at the Schnittke Moscow State Institute of Music, under prof. Lev Evgrafov. The cellist is a laureate of national and international competitions, such as the competition for young violinists and cellists The Magic Bow in 2006, won first prizes in the Moscow International Festival of Slavic Music in 2007 and won third place at the III International S.N. Knushevitsky Cello Competition in Saratov in 2013. The cellist is not only a soloist, but also a member of the string quartet 432, and has experienced success in various competitions as part of the group as well. In 2012, the ensemble won first-place prizes in the international competition Autumn Marathon in Saint Petersburg and the international competition The Muses of the World in Moscow. In 2003-2004 Timur was receiving a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture of the Kabardino-Balkaria Republic, in 2004-2010 – from the Ludmila Guranova foundation. In 2006, he was supported by the New Names foundation and in 2010-2012 received sponsorship from Mstislav Rostropovich’s cultural programs. Timur actively performs in Russia, as well as abroad, both as a soloist and the member of the aforementioned string quartet. In 2011, he took part in the 22nd international young orchestra competition Eurochestries, in France, where he performed modern pieces of Russian composers and published two CDs – Sounds, and Hommage. Symphony and Chamber Music – in collaboration with music creators from Russia. The cellist also plays at the Helikon-opera theatre and the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre in Moscow. He is also a constant member of the Music Aeterna orchestra, lead by Teodor Currentzis.
