Serafim Volkov was born in Saint Petersburg on November 1994. He started playing music at the age of 6. He successfully completed the cello class at the Mravinsky School of Arts for children in 2011 and then continued to study music at the Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg Musical College in the class of professor Alexey Vasilev. Since 2014, Serafim Volkov has been a student at the Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg Conservatory. During his studies, Serafim has proven himself as a talented musician. He attended classes of such musicians like Leonid Gorokhov, David Geringas, Martti Rousi, Jerome Perno, Natalia Gutman, Sergey Slovachevsky, Wolfgang Schmidt, and Jens Peter Maintz. Serafim has performed in the best concert halls of Saint Petersburg and Moscow, such as the Mariinsky Concert Hall and the Halls of the Philarmonic, as a soloist with an orchestra. Serafim Volkov is a winner of several music competitions, such as: The Saint Petersburg’s 4th Open Competition for Young Artists (1st prize), The 3rd international Competition named after composer Sviridov (1st prize), The International Competition Art of the 21st century, Lithuania (2nd prize), Serafim has been awarded the highest youth award: The Star of Academician D.S. Likhachev Winner of the 8th International EMCY Mravinsky Competition (3rd prize), Saint Petersburg Winner of the 3rd Russian competition for Young Artists in Moscow Currently, Serafim Volkov is a student at the Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg Conservatory, teacher – professor Alexey Vasilev.
