Winner of several national and international level competitions, Lithuanian cellist Kotryna Šiugždinytė is described as ‘an artist of strong temperament, a great believer in music and its power, and a natural performer’. The graduate of M.K.Ciurlionis School of Arts (prof. R.Armonas) in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 2013 she received a scholarship to study for a Bachelor’s degree at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK, where she was taught by Karine Georgian and Philip Higham. A keen contemporary performer, Kotryna has collaborated with such ensembles as the Vonnegut Collective, the Ensemble Kinetic and the Berkeley Ensemble, performed in the prestigious Tete a Tete festival in London (2017), and earlier that year gave a world premiere of A. Smith’s ‘pulse’ for Cello and Orchestra. Recent highlights also include performance of the E. Elgar Cello Concerto with Golden Sinfonia (2018). A scholar of ABRSM, Kotryna is currently studying for her Master’s degree at the RNCM with Hannah Roberts and Jennifer Langridge.
