Constantin Macherel was born in 1991, in Lausanne, Switzerland. He became more familiar with the cello at the age of six and later completed his Bachelor’s degree at the Lausanne Conservatory in 2012. In the same year, he met Ivan Monighetti and continued to study under him for his Master’s Degree at the City of Basel Music Academy. In 2014-2018 he enhanced his knowledge at the Zurich University of the Arts, under Raphael Wallfisch, where he received another Master’s diploma. Constantin has participated in masterclasses, led by David Gering, Karina Georgian, Giovanni Sollima, Natalia Gutman France Springuel. He is also a laureate of national and international competitions, among which: first prizes at the Schweizer Musik-Wettbewerb für Jugendliche, the SIUSA, and the Schweizer Solisten Vorspiel competitions. The cellist has been sponsored and supported by numerous charity foundations, such as Leenaards, Schenk Stiftung für Junge Solisten, Fritz Gerber Stiftung, and others. Constantin actively gives solo performances in Switzerland, Belgium, Austria, Italy, Great Britain, Germany, the Czech Republic, and the Netherlands. He has soloed with the Carlsbad, the Saint Petersburg State, Taurida, Aarau, and other symphony orchestras and also performs as a member of chamber ensembles. Currently, preparations are underway to Publish a CD by Constantin and The London Mozart Players, which would include especially rare pieces for cello and chamber orchestra. The artist is not only a performer but also composes music himself.
