Krystyna Wiśniewska was born in Warsaw in 1996. She started to learn the cello under Joanna Święs at The Frederic Chopin State School of Music in 2002. Since 2004, Krystyna has been studying at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music under prof. Andrzej Bauer. Krystyna is a participant and laureate of many national and international competitions. As a soloist and member of chamber ensembles, she has received first prizes in various competitions in Warsaw, Radom, Canada, Paris, and Gdansk. The cellist is an active participant of festivals in her native Poland, as well as the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland. 2007-2014 she was receiving scholarships from Krajowy Funudusz Na Rzecz Dzieci and the John Paul II Foundation, in 2013-2014 she also received the Vide Supra, as well as scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. In 2014 Krystyna was presented with the Młoda Polska prize and has been sponsored by the Theresa Sahakian foundation since 2013. She was a participant of the Leopold Mozart Academy, together with cellists from Russia, Spain, Japan, and England. In 2014, the cellist made it to the final of the Młody Muzyk Roku competition and has played with the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Łukasz Borowicz in the Witold Lutosławski studio. In 2015-2016 Krystyna participated in the project Sinfonia Varsovia Academy. She is also a member of many Polish and international chamber ensembles and actively performs in Poland, as well as other countries.
