Florian Pons is currently studying at the CNSM of Paris, in the class of Marc Coppey. Florian had the chance to meet and work with Frans Helmerson, David Geringas, Gary Hoffman, Boris Andrianov, Seiji Ozawa, Peter Bruns and Alexander Rudin in different masterclasses and academies. In 2011, he played in the French Youth Orchestra and in 2015 took part in the Seiji Ozawa International Academy. He won the 2011 Vatelot Competition, the 2013 Epernay String Competition, and the 2013 Leopold Bellan International Competition’s Honorary Prize. In 2016 he won the International Competition Tremplin of Aulnay and performed the Dvořák Concerto twice, with the orchestra. He reached the semi-final in the Lutoslawski Competition in February 2018. In April, he performed the first movement of Shostakovich's cello concerto with orchestra, for the opening concert of China’s Cello Biennale, “SuperCello”. He reached the semi-final in both the Enescu and the Schoenfeld competitions during the summer of 2018. In October he got accepted into the Classe d’Excellence de Violoncelle, directed by Gautier Capucon before reaching, in November, the semi-final of the Isang Yun competition in Korea.
