Mingnan Yue was born in Shanxi, China, and began playing violin at the age of 4. Since 2019, he has been studying at the China Conservatory of Music, which is generally regarded as one of the leading institutions for music studies in China. He has been selected for the first edition of the Top Talent Training Program, which is conducted by the China Conservatory of Music, and has won the Excellence Scholarship of the Middle School Affiliated to China Conservatory of Music for five consecutive years. He is currently a student of Yuan Tian. He has won numerous national and international competitions, including the 1st prize at the 12th International Chamber Music Festival-Competition in Shanghai, and he won the 6th prize at the Hong Kong International Music Festival-Competition in 2017. In 2023, he has won the 6th prize at the 4th National Youth Violin Concerto Competition in Qingdao. In 2024, he was selected as a candidate to perform at the first round of the Tibor Varga Junior International Violin Competition, and at the semifinals of the Incheon International Music Competition and the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. He attended summer edition of the Ishikawa Music Academy in 2023, and participated in a number of masterclasses conducted by violinists Lucie Robert, Michiko Kamiya, Ju-Young Baek, Regis Pasquier, Koichiro Harada, Giovanni Angeleri, Robert Kabara, Yair Kless, Yamei Yu, Pavel Vernikov, Svetlana Makarova, among the others.
