Sungmin Cho, a violinist from Seoul, graduated from Seoul Arts High School, and is currently studying with prof. David Chan at The Juilliard School, where he also received his bachelor’s degree in 2024, while working with prof. Ronald Copes and prof. Joseph Lin. He had his solo concert debut under the auspices of the Kumho Prodigy Concert Series held for gifted youth at the age of 13. He has acquired years of solo experience by winning prestigious music competitions and successfully passing auditions. He has won numerous awards at such competitions as the Princess Astrid International Music Competition 2024, XXXVIII Music Association of Korea Competition, XXVI Sungjung Music Competition, XXVII KBS KEPCO Music Competition, LVIII Dong-A Music Competition, Seoul Youth Chamber Music Competition, he passed the Art Sylvia Chamber Music Audition, won the TBC Music Competition, among the others. As a soloist he has appeared with world-renowned orchestras, including the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, North Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Yamagata Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Symphony Orchestra, Szolnok Symphony Orchestra, Kyungpook Symphony Orchestra, and the others. Also, he has performed at numerous venues worldwide, such as the Dvořák Hall in Rudolfinum, Lincoln Center, Seoul Arts Center, Kumho Art Hall, Samsung Electronics Art Hall, Hitachi Systems Hall. He has obtained important musical impulses and experiences from masterclasses with many world-renowned musicians, including Rodney Friend, György Pauk, Kyoko Takezawa, Gérard Poulet, Cho-Liang Lin and Koichiro Harada.
