Lorenz Karls was born in Vienna, into an Austrian Swedish family, and began playing the violin at the age of 4. To highlight some of his appearances as a soloist in the last seasons, it can be noted that he has performed at the Mozartwoche Salzburg, the Great Hall of the Mozarteum Foundation, and played with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, WDR Funkhausorchester, Camerata Bern, Odense Symphony Orchestra, Kremerata Baltica, Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Symphony Orchestra of Milan. Lorenz has won numerous prizes at national and international competitions, among which – seven highest prizes from the member competitions of the World Federation of Music Competitions (WFIMC), including the Mozart Competition in Salzburg and the Mozart Competition in Zhuhai, 2nd prize at the International Competition "Rome Classic Violin Olympus" in 2024, and thus he will participate at the "Dubai Classic Violin Olympus" grand finals in 2025. Lorenz plays on G. B. Guadagnini “ex-Bachmann”, kindly loaned to him by the Stephan and Viktoria Schmidheiny Foundation.
