Yo Saotome was born in Japan and began playing the violin at the age of five. She was a student at the Juilliard School Pre-College, studying with Masao Kawasaki, and after continued her studies at the Toho Gakuen Music School under the guidance of Masafumi Hori. Yo has won several prizes, including 1st prize at the III and VI Toho Music Competition and 2nd prize at the LXXIII National Student Music Competition in Japan. In 2014, she was the youngest participant at the Aspen Music Festival-Academy. In 2022, she received a scholarship for participation at the Taiwan Music Academy & Festival. She also played in a quartet coached by Nobuko Yamazaki and Kazuhide Isomura, and was the youngest ensemble selected for the Toho Gakuen Chamber Music Concert in 2018. She has attended masterclasses with Mihaela Martin, Koichiro Harada, Cho-Liang Lin, Rodney Friend, Oleg Kaskiv, Anne Akiko Meyers, among the others. From April 2024, Yo has been studying at the Hanns Eisler University of Music Berlin.
