The young Latvian baritone Rihards Millers is currently a soloist with Latvian National Opera. In 2009–2013, he studied singing at the Jazeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music under Anita Garanča and Krišjānis Norvelis. In 2012–2013, he studied at the National Academy of St Cecilia in Rome, under Anna Maria Ferrante. Rihards obtained an MA degree in 2015. During his study years, he has been a prizewinner in national singing competitions, and was awarded the Latvian Academy of Music and Swedbank Prize for outstanding artistic achievements. In the IX Klaudia Taev Competition for Young Singers, he took third place and won a special prize for the best performance of Franz Schubert's "Ave Maria". At Latvian National Opera, his roles on the stage include Pantalone ("The Love for Three Oranges') and The Count ("Le Nozze di Figaro"), Marullo ("Rigoletto"). In 2015, Rihards performed the part of Valdis in the world première of the Latvian composer Artūrs Maskats' opera "Valentīna". In the summer of the same year, he participated in the festival "Dominante", where he created the role of Theseus in Bohuslavu Martinu's opera "Ariane".
