The lyric-coloratura soprano Sylwia Olszyńska graduated with distinction from the Music Academy in Kraków, where she studied under Professor Monika Swarowska-Walawska. She also graduated in doctoral studies from the Karol Szymanowski Music Academy in Katowice under Professor Henryka Januszewska-Stańczyk. Her most important achievements include the first prize at the XI Imrich Godin International Vocal Competition (2008), reaching the final and receiving a special prize for the best coloratura soprano at the IX International Moniuszko Vocal Competition (2016), and an award in memory of Dame Joan Sutherland at the II International Éva Marton Singing Competition (2016), presented by the conductor Richard Bonynge. In 2008, Sylwia took part in the "Oper in der Scheune" project, where she performed the parts of First Boy ("Die Zauberflöte") and Rusalka ("Rusalka"). A year later, she made her stage debut in the part of Cleopatra in Georg Friedrich Händel’s "Giulio Cesare in Egitto". In 2009, she sang the soprano part in the world première of "The Armed Man - A Mass for Peace", composed by the English composer Karl Jenkins, at the Kraków Philharmonic. Since 2011, she has cooperated with "Capella Cracoviensis", with whom she recorded the prestigious "Te Deum: Charpentier & Lully conducted by Vincent Dumestre" (Paris–Versailles, 2013). Since 2015, she has cooperated with the Chamber Opera in Kraków. In 2016, Sylwia sang the part of Second Woman ("Dido and Aeneas") at the Grand Theatre in Poznań. In the 2016/2017 season, she made her debut at the Wrocław Opera as Pamina in "Die Zauberflöte". Next season, she will make her debut in Berlin in the same role with the Polish National Opera. Since 2012, Sylwia has worked as a singing teacher at the Karol Szymanowski Music Academy in Katowice.
