Swiss-Latvian violinist Ilva Eigus had her first violin lesson at the age of three. For 12 years she studied with Liana Tretiakova in Zurich. Her current mentor is professor Marc Bouchkov, with whom Ilva studies at the Pre-College of the Royal Conservatory of Liège in Belgium. Ilva is also an honoured recipient of scholarships from the Verbier Festival Academy, the Seiji Ozawa Academy in Rolle, and the Liechtenstein Academy of Music. Ilva made her orchestra debut at the age of eight, and has since performed with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Musikkollegium Winterthur, the Moscow Philharmonic, the Prague Royal Philharmonic and the Bodensee Philharmonie. Ilva had the priviledge to play in such venues as the Tonhalle Zurich, Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow and the Mozarteum Salzburg, as well as at festivals, including Verbier, Gstaad, Enjoy Jazz Mannheim festivals, and the Festival de Musique de Menton. Ilva is a recipient of numerous national and international awards, list of which includes 1st prize at the International Nutcracker Competition (2020), Rotary Prize at the Verbier Festival (2023), Swiss Charity Award (2023), 1st prize at the Grumiaux Violin Competition in Brussels (2024) and 1st prize at the Grunewald Competition in Berlin (2024). In 2023, Ilva became an ambassador of the Fondation ART-THERAPIE, which promotes art therapy programs for children. Ilva plays a 1707 Omobono Stradivari, generously loaned by the Habisreutinger-Huggler-Coray Foundation.
