Jieun Son was born in South Korea, and completed her bachelor's degree at the Seoul National University with prof. Kyung Sun Lee. Afterwards she pursued her master's with prof. Sebastian Schmidt at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater. She has been continuing her studies in Concert Performance since October 2023. As a soloist she won the Kreutzer International Competition, Elise Meyer Foundation Competition and the Siberia International Competition. She has already given concerts with the Bulgarian Philharmonic Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Teleradio Moldova, Daegu Symphony Orchestra, and many others. In addition, she took part in various chamber music projects, including tours throughout South Korea as guest second violin of the Arete String Quartet, and performances at festivals and various other events, such as the Gustav Mahler Academy and the Villars Music Academy-Festival. She also played at the Bregenz Orchestra Festival in 2022. She received additional artistic inspiration at masterclasses conducted by professors Midori Goto, Mihaela Martin, Ik-Hwnn Bae, Kolja Blacher, Nora Chastain and Christoph Poppen.
