Biography
Born in China, Zhao Leyan (*2002) started to play the piano at the age of 5 and the cello at the age of 7. She studied at the Shanghai Music Middle School Affiliated to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music (prof. Chen Zheng). Since 2020, Leyan is studying at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (prof. Qin Liwei). She was a prize winner of Hong Kong ISC (2014), 4th Shanghai Conservatory of Music ChC (2014), Danubia Talents IMC (2021), 5th Moscow IMC (2021). She was invited to participate in Morningside Music Bridge, MusicAlp, Forum Artium, Wangjian International Cello Festival and Rutesheim Akademie Cello Festival.
She took part in master classes with Laurence Lesser, Martti Rousi, Claudio Bohorquez, Luis Claret and many others.
