Katrina Suroveca began to play the piano at the age of five. K. Suroceva graduated from Jāzeps Mediņš Riga Music Secondary School as well as received her bachelor of music at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. Currently she is studying at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden, where she studies with prof. Markus Groh. Among her awards – 2nd place in the Jurmala International Piano Competition, 2nd place in the Musical Fireworks in Baden-Württemberg, 2nd place in the VII International Agustín Aponte Music Competition in Tenerife, 1st place in the YAMAHA Scholarship Piano Competition etc. She has been honoured by the Latvian Ministry of Culture and patrons of Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. Her most important mentors have been prof. Sergejs Osokins and prof. Markus Groh. She also participated in masterclasses given by Wolfram Schmitt-Leonardy, Niklas Sivelöv, Balázs Fülei, Libor Novacek, Dmitri Bashkirov and others.
